Reservation of a business name with CIPC has been rejected, “Comparative Name Exists.” It appears the Registrar has compared words in isolation and not within the context of the full company name.
Has anyone else experienced this and what have you done to overcome it?

Instead of fighting with a bunch of bureaucrats who clearly did not understand the nuances of English, I decided to revert to the "Trading as". In terms of the new Comanies Act, I am justifieed in carrying on this practice ad infinitum, I believe, since I have been doing it for so long.
What really counts is that I have the URL on .co.za which is more value to me than having the company name.
Permalink Reply by Peter Peiser on October 30, 2011 at 4:01 It's probably more about name resrvation than registering a business.
The Consumer Protection Act says the name and the "Trading Name" both have to be registered - http://www.polity.org.za/article/the-consumer-protection-act-the-du.... One might as well just just register a name.
I agree with the URL part.
